Buying bras and panties…..

Yes we have breasts and yes we need to buy bras. All of us- women. Yes India is a conservative society and there are many issues which are not discussed openly. Couples romancing (in parks or gardens etc.) are attacked, be it big cities or small cities- Chandigarh , Delhi, Mumbai, Muzzafarnagar, Meerut - by police or right wing activists. There is moral policing everywhere .It is not in our culture you see, young boys hanging out with young girls. They make love and do dirty things in parks or dark corners of streets. We need to save our girls from strange men till they are married. And once they are married, socializing with other men is definitely not encouraged. That does not mean married women do not have male friends, but mostly not- it is not our culture. So many things are not in our culture and yet they happen and some very strange ones.
Coming back to breasts. We should always cover our breasts(over the dress). Almost all Indian dresses cover our breasts- the sari, the Punjabi suit (chunni) , lehnga choli (dupatta), odhni, the burqa. It is the izzat of the girl/lady. Keep the izzat covered. Now a days, one can see girls wearing scarves over T-shirts and jeans. Breasts are covered in our culture so that strange men may not see them and get attracted.

But when you go to buy a bra or panty !!!!!! it is mostly (95%) a male salesman selling a bra !!!!!
Yes this happens only in India. A strange man ( paraya mard) will ask you- “ size madam?”
“ which material?”
“ single strap?”
“ you want company make or local make”
“ this has a nice fit, this one is seamless, this has a very nice look”
“this material is very fine madam. You can feel it on the hand.”

Such a conversation happens between total strangers of opposite sex !! Wow. This is in our culture !! You cannot romance with your boyfriend but you can tell your bra size to an unknown man who maybe in his 30s or 40s or 50s!
Then try it in the try room. If you don’t like that bra for whatever reason and ask for another one the conversation will continue.
“what didn’t you like? Is the size not fine?”

Yes in the bra shop there are no inhibitions. There maybe female staff also but male staff is always around.

Panties:
Salesman- “size madam”
“Xyz”
“No that will not fit you. This will fit you much better.” He will then hold the panty with both his hands and stretch it from the waist and show you how much can fit in it! So if you are shopping for your first night or first time, before your partner sees your undergarments, they have already been touched, and explored by a complete stranger (even before you wear them)! And the family has no objections to that.

So much for buying bras and keeping the breasts covered.

JAI SIA RAM! (PRAISE THE GODESS SITA AND HER HUSBAND LORD RAM)

Lord Ram (incarnation of God Vishnu) and Sita (incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi). Ram and Sita , a married couple , worshipped by the Hindu’s majorly. Jai Sia ram ! is or rather was a popular way of greeting, just like saying Namaste. Over the years it has become-Jai ram ji ki !( Praise the lord Ram).

The library peon , wishes me – “madamji, jai Ramji Ki “
And I say- “Jai Sitaji ki!”
He is sutrprised and looks at me with amazement.
So I ask him-“kyon Sitaji ko bhool gaye?”
This happened thrice or four times. Now everytime he meets me, he says:
“Madamji, jai Sia Ram. Apko dekh kar to yehi yaad ata hai.”
